Greetings. May i say that its GREAT to be a member of a forum for Nest at last!!!
I thought that this might be a good idea for a thread here, so i have started it to first introduce myself and hopefully thereafter you will introduce yourselves to me!
My name is Ian, or Goat if you prefer. I am 24. I am from London, and though currently working in London (Whitechapel - Elephant Man and Ripper territory!) i am living in Doncaster, South Yorkshire to be with my girlfriend. It is y plan to get a job up there sometime and stop this barbaric commute (2 hours each journey!) to work.
I am a member of many band forums. Moonsorrow, Reverend Bizarre, Finntroll (where i moderate),and Verjnuarmu.
My favourite bands are as above, Nest obviously, Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus, Kotiteollisuus, and my absolute favourite band - Viikate.
I frequently travel to Finland and hope to be back for Tuska 07, as i attended 06 and 04 in the past.
So....hello!

Greetings. Good idea for a topic this is. I'm A. Tolonen, and since you're on the Nest forum you probably already know who I am. I play the kantele, compose, paint, draw, manage foreign politics etc. in Nest and otherwise too. I was born in 1979 and currently reside in a small town in Finland called Riihimäki (which translates to barn hill). I constantly have a plethora of projects going on (not all of them musical), so I'm often way too busy for my own good. I work in the IT industry, which is ok work. Creative enough not to get utterly boring, but sometimes demands an insane amount of hours and causes plenty of stress.

My name is Jonathan, I'm turning 22 tomorrow. I'm a student in arts, I'm going to start studying in graphism after the summer.
I'm into post rock, folkish stuff, neo folk, doom, stoner and a bit of every music genre...a lot of moody stuff, wich is why I love Nest. I'm also into movies, asian stuff, horror, b&w movies, scifi... anything dark, and then a bit of every other genre.
I have a band called Mournful Woods, wich is best described as «dark ambient» with a bit of Neo-folk and experimental influences.

My turn I suppose... I'm Sean, from south-central Pennsylvania (if you're not good with U.S. geography, I live about 3-1/2 hours southwest of New York City and just over two hours north of Washington, D.C). As my user text indicates, I am indeed the host of Nest on Myspace. Now, how did this come about? I had an old account from a defunct band I was working with for a while, and noticed that Nest didn't have an account, so I talked to A.T. and, lo and behold, Doomsquirrelism hath extended its reach! Even though I don't really care much for Myspace especially for personal use, I think it's a good way to promote music, especially music like Nest, which as has been mentioned suffers from limited distribution outlets. Personal data, well I'm 24, still looking for work even though I finished my college degree last May. I just left my band, a symphonic/gothic metal group called Evince Ethos because I live too far away (they're up near Boston, which is six hours from here) and I'm not really into the music anymore - we started out sounding like a more atmospheric take on the very early melodic death metal scene, i.e. the first two In Flames albums (although a ton of people said we sounded like Agalloch, Ulver, etc.... flattering, but I never heard it). Anyway, I listen to all genres of dark/extreme metal, neo-folk, medieval/celtic, dark ambient, shoegaze rock, some post-rock/instrumental, avant-garde, world/ethnic music, etc. I am a photographer, not a great one or anything, just a guy who likes to take pictures of everything he sees. The link in my profile leads to my photos. I guess I could ramble on more, but I'll spare you all

I'm O.S., a geezer from the Netherlands. Not too old I try to work on some musical projects to be unveiled in the future, but mostly I'm busy writing about other people's music on www.eveningoflight.nl and www.doom-metal.com. I like all sorts of music, but mostly folky stuff of all kinds, dark ambiences and doom metal.

Hi everyone ! My name is Bach. I'm from Vietnam and I'm 22 years old. I'm a student in electronics and I'll graduate this summer. I love melodic black, death, folk metal and especially your music ^^ and I was so surprised when I knew that you two are still young and live far from each other. In fact, I imagined two old mans are playing kantele together and sometimes even fell asleep ^^. Anh the last : Wish you best wishes !

Greetings! I'm Pekka Aho a.k.a. "Kuuraparta" (and also "Frostheim"); I'm born in 5th of Jan '82, and I live in Vantaa, Finland. I'm a kantele player in the first place and the man behind the band Nostatus. I've been a metalhead since the end of the 80's, and mostly I'm into old-school doom and heavy metal. I've been a student of Finno-Ugric linguistics in the University of Helsinki since autumn '02 and slowly but steadily on my way to graduate as mag.phil. at some point. In addition I'm writing album reviews for Imperiumi, apparently the biggest media for metal music in Finland. I'm here as I like and support Nest to the max, and herr AT is also a good friend from many years' time already. What else..? Well, I've got a big beard and a huge.. ehm.. kantele. EDIT: Updated some bits. ;D

. terve! deleted a previous post at this thread because the stars know why. could've just as well edited it. regardless. my name is Žiga (slovene version of Siegmund) a.k.a. vargalv at a few metal forums. i'm in my twenty-ninth year, and have just finished my studies last week. after two failed attempts and some years of work inbetween, i've found my place in historical studies, and will continue them this fall for two more years. hope to link them to etymology somehow, although the chances for this are rather slim. i'm from Maribor, a town at the northeast end of the wooded (and boggy) mountain range of Pohorje. among the somewhat eclectic asortiment of interests, i've a special fondness for finnish language, along with finnish folklore, myth and music. mainly folk-related with the latter (Tenhi, Nest, Nostatus, Poropetra, Värttinä etc.). i'm also starting to learn the language (via tapes and books), plus making (see čezlesje) and playing kantele. .

Tervehdys! I suppose it's appropriate to start here since I just joined the forum. First of all, I'd like to say that I fully second the sentiment about Nest being one of the best 'nature music' projects to date. I've liked all of the four songs available for hearing at the MySpace site and I'm definitely going to get the albums soon. The atmosphere strikes a chord somewhere deep inside. I'm grateful for having stumbled upon this jewel of a band. As for introductions, I'm a 20-year-old university student from Helsinki, Finland. I'm majoring in theoretical philosophy, although I'm currently not at all sure what direction my life is going to take. I don't have many connections to music scenes, unfortunately, but I wholeheartedly enjoy listening to various sorts of metal (mostly progressive, death and melodic death) and neofolk bands, such as Opeth, Draconian and Tenhi. In fact, I came across Nest while browsing neofolk bands in Wikipedia. Looking forward to getting to know Nest better! And if anyone can recommend me neofolk bands worth listening to, I'm all ears.

I haven't introduced myself so... My name is Thomas, I'm 19 years old and I come from Belgium. I'm a student, first year (industrial) engineer. I discovered Nest through Agalloch, who did a split with Nest. I'm general into progressive metal/rock but also other metal genres. My favourite non-metal genres are folk, new age and some cool electronic stuff. Fav bands are: Agalloch, Nest, Porcupine Tree, Riverside, Anathema, Blackfield and many more.... During the holidays I like travelling especially with my backpack. My hobbies are: swimming, cycling, photography and poetry/writing
