I just have to share this with you guys. I came across this band called Brynjard that has apparently been ripping off other bands quite shamelessly. I checked out their stuff myself and the ripping off is actually even more shameless than I could have ever imagined. They have literally taken 2 of my band's songs either from our CDs or more likely from the songs we've provided free to download and put them on their own album as they are. They haven't even bothered trying to alter our original songs. Apparently they have also ripped off bands like Summoning, Vinterriket, Avathar, Nuclear Hammer, Baranduin, etc. in the same way. And the icing on the cake is that "their" latest full length's name is the name of our song. Should I be flattered now? What the hell inspires someone to do a thing like this? It could be a joke, but I fail to see the joke aspect of it. Also, the official pages of the band and their record label have "mysteriously" gone offline now. I don't generally get upset with many things, and even this ordeal is more funny than upsetting to me, but using other people's stuff as your own and especially making money of them is quite contemptible. They are selling "their" albums here: www.demobutiken.se/manufacturers.php?manufacturers_id=141&osCsid=5e5819f74aed73f4f2ee5f869346The guy behind Brynjard also seems to be involved in Varganatt. I eagerly await to see what surprises they have to offer in the future.

Will you do something about it?

I'll let the label know and post the info at as many places I know. The guys from Avathar said they will take legal action, and I will assist them if they need me to. I won't be suing myself etc.
Everyone reading this topic can also let people know about this. If you want to, that is.
Actually, I think the best thing to do about this is to get Brynjard exposed to what a ripoff it is on all the major metal sites that have their info, and then just forget about them. It's not worth it to give such a "band" any publicity. I hope any memory of their existence just fades into nothingness over time.

Ok so he might be just a fanboy who made covers of songs without giving credit to the proper bands. And the biography doesn't talk about a Nest cover. Also, naming an album after a cover is really shitty (expecially when there's no info on the fact that it'S a cover (if it is ?)). On this other fansite, the band mention the summoning cover in the album tracklist but not the Nest cover : www.vikingblood.net/modules.php?name=banddb&file=release&release_id=543Their myspace got offline, their official website too, and the distro's page. I only found some links on Metal Archives ( www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=40888 ) wich tells nothing more than the biography and track listing mentioned above. I could've understand if they mentioned they were covering songs and not selling it. But that quite sucks the situation of not mentioning the bands covered and putting the album's name as Land behind the mist. In any case, you're right about laughing at it rather than getting mad. I find it to be just a fanboy who had to have a band because he'd be more «in the scene» and cool. I guess this guy is just wanting a status in the scene even if that mean stealing a bit of songs here and there.

Yep, I would have been at least somewhat ok with this case if they would have actually covered our songs, but they're not even covers. They have taken Nest's and other bands' songs and put them on on their album as they are. They don't play anything themselves on the songs. The 2 Nest songs are exactly the ones on Nest's albums. Exactly. You can hear only our playing, our vocals, etc. on them.
The Summoning cover is actually Avathar covering Summoning. Brynkjard hasn't played anything on that song either.
I'm dumbfounded how someone could have thought doing something like this was a good idea. I find it extremely funny because it's so absurd. Surely Brynjard couldn't have thought nobody would have noticed, and news generally spread like wildfire in the metal communities.

They're the actual songs ? gosh I was looking for the mp3s to hear out how they rendered it but that's just incredibly low to put the material played by others on a personnal project. I feel ashamed for the people who bought the albums.

I feel ashamed for the people who bought the albums. I doubt anyone other than the guy's three or four friends, his mother, sister, and make-believe girlfriend actually bought it. He would be stupid to actually promote that shite to people who actually know of the bands he ripped off. What a wanker...

This is beyond belief... I'll be sure to spread the info where necessary.
