How are we all doing?
I still come here to check every once in a while. It would be good to see more posting going on!
I am seriously giving thought to buying a Kantele now, my life has been in a bit of turmoil recently, splitting up with my girlfriend and having to move back to London area. How has everyone else been?

Yep, too quiet in here. Well, in here it is the motor cycling season at its peak ;D .
Music-wise: a lot of nice releases and concerts this year, like from Kiuas, Apocalyptica, Hidria Spacefolk, Opeth and Zappa ... and that sort of bands from Prog and Metal domain. And yes, The Sparks, too ;D - a wonderful concert, I think.

.
well, it's summertime. my least favourite season. hot and humid, and with every kid that owns a stereo or a car thinking that s/he's the best DJ in the world that everybody wants to listen to: noisy.
i've been busy with my postgraduate studies, and finally i've a whole month and a half for myself. apart from a bit of work i'm supposed to do.
anyway, it's lazytime. music-wise it's been okay. the new Katalena record is their best by far, with a good portion of progressive and even metal elements thrown into their skillfull blend of folk, jazz and rock. hopefully i'll be seeing them live - first time for me - this thursday. a rather disappointing release on the other hand has been the new Moonsorrow record, which for me is too far back to black (metal). the covers are okay though. the title track too disjointed. the epic finally backfired... not to my pleasure, of course. their last two albums were outstanding, esp. Hävitetty.
oh, i've got a new camera, and i'm hitting the woods with it on tuesday. can't wait! nothing new on the jouhikko front though... oh well.
cheers.

Indeed it's been quiet here. I haven't been too active on any forum. I've been preoccupied with all manner of "real life" projects lately (and to sort of let the cat out of the bag, I can reveal that I've been working on new music as well as designing a new kantele). Hope all you guys have a nice summer. My holiday just started, and I'll be leaving to our cottage in a couple of days. Time to get away from computers and live like a wild man for a month or so

Moved in a new appartment, got a good job, spent all money on new furnitures, beer, music, Readings. Have some project for directing a short horror movie, a bit of drawing for a graphic novel. I'm not working in thoses fields but as a personnal project I'd like to do that.
Looking forward to the new music.

Yeah, it's quiet around here.
I agree with Vargalv. Summer sucks. Too hot, thunderstorms every day that end up causing a shitstorm at work half the time (we're an airport located in a low-lying wetland... imagine the fun). Can't wait for autumn, my favorite season; gonna go camping in the woods under all the foliage, smell the woodsmoke, take a bunch of pictures, etc.
I was recently informed that I'm getting a fairly substantial pay raise in January, which will be great, because my list of things to buy is not getting any smaller (kayak, new camera lenses, many travels, etc).
Oh, and my boss got fired.

Back from the cottage and once again it was a refreshing time spent away from the routines of my normal life. (I'm still trying to come up with a master plan that would allow me to live at the cottage all year round). I once again got some new ideas for new songs/lyrics. I'm also gravitating towards buyind a midi keyboard at last. Or maybe a keyboard/synth with midi controller capabilities. Imagine that I've been composing synth stuff for over 10 years with just a normal computer keyboard Congrats for the pay raise Sylvan.

I was looking into keyboards for a while too. Might be interested in microKorg since it's small ans can creates lots of effects and is not over priced. haven't looked at it much though. How is YOUR search going ?

I was looking at a MicroKorg too, but I found a second hand Korg X5D that was quite cheap. I decided it was better to get a synth that had more keys so I can play with multiple octaves more easily. I also decided it was better to get an actual synth with midi capabilities (instead of just a midi keyboard) so that I can get sounds out of it without plugging it into the computor.
