good idea for a topic. Kudos mon. In which song of Shape of Despair's 'Illusions' Play' can you be heard? In all of them. The kantele is mixed in quite low, so you have to play detective in a couple of places in order to hear it. It's probably the easiest to hear it in the ambient breaks, and especially in the intro of the last track. The intro is kantele only.

I heard it clearly in that intro, but in other songs I sometimes don't know if it's an acoustic guitar or a kantele I hear.

A question: Do you plan to play your music live ?

At the moment there are no plans of playing live. The new songs would be especially hard to play live with all the stuff happening in them simultaneously. Also I don't know enough musicians who could help us out in a live situation, and I really don't like playing with a backing tape.

Did you by any chance happen to get any sort of inspiration for your music from the pagan cult of the Thief saga?

I do indeed love Thief, and it has inspired my music quite a bit too. Thief is actually one of my all-time favorite games, and the only game in my all time top 10 games that's on the PC. By the way. I am involved in a Thief fan mission project "The Hammerite Imperium" as a musician and sound guy. For it I did more ambient stuff and I only used the kantele once, and that was distorted in a song that was my tribute for the original Thief theme song. I might release those tunes someday too.

I found two of those songs ("Sadness And Relief" and "Night's Work") on the internet and I like them. They still have the Nest vibe

It came of the old doom-metal forum which has taken down.

I can post the links here soon. I've just been meaning to make proper songs of them, because at the moment they are just collections of themes - which was a better way to do stuff intended as background loops, etc. for a game. But don't worry, I will release them in one form or another. If there are people who are interested in hearing them, there's no reason for me just to sit on them.

I'm not AT, but some thoughts that came to my mind: As at least for me the band/project names have usually become to exist along the matters as follows, I think even some or something of them have been involved in the birth of the name "Nest" as well, especially if I remember it right according to what we've discussed about band/song/etc. names in general sometimes earlier: 1) It's a nice name and suits the concept of the preferred and liked themes etc. well. 2) It feels good and "a right thing to do". 3) A name that has simply developed to exist in the depths of the primus motors mind as a natural and coherent result of the mindstreams concerning ones very own band/project/etc. back at the time it all started to take the form of which the band then got known since then.

Kuuraparta is correct, but I can give you a bit more detailed info as well. Nest embodies the themes I wanted to portray in this kind of a musical journey. I wanted a name that would deal with nature, and also sound pleasant. Nothing overly dark or anything either. Just something that makes me think. Nest is also a synonym for "home", the place where you belong, and I liked that connotation. I also wanted to have a simple name, preferably only one word, because I think those are more effective than these long elaborate ones like "Shadow of the grim goat mountain sadness".
