Where in the song "Hunt" can I actually hear Mr. Haughm?

Certainly, one of the "replay" values is, with each subsequent listen(if you pay attention) more and more is revealed. Thanx, Mr. Atolonen for the "hunting" suggestions.

Those sounds in the background are an essential part of this music - I touched that part in my review on the Nest web page. As ChaosViking was commenting, it is very obvious - at least in my ears - that the compositions really work. Otherwise, I would not be even halfly as excited on this music than I am now.
But going a bit further, now mr. A. Tolonen gaves us the insight of the "sounds being composed into the music" - yes, indeed they are. That is quite a rare concept, at least in Prog Rock it is. However, there is one piece of music that is done exactly like that: Tangerine Dream: Rubicon A-side of the album (1975). That album is in no way nature related - quite the opposite, and is in the Electronic music genre.

Where in the song "Hunt" can I actually hear Mr. Haughm? You can hear Haughm's spoken word at: 1:07 and various snarls around: 1:40, 2:36, 8:26, 9:05, 9:44, 12:23. The low growls are all by me. Haughm did the somewhat higher snarls that sound like an animal snarling - and I love how they turned out.

I was curious as to how the music of Skepticism influenced you? Or if it has? Bands like Skepticism and Esoteric, along with Nest, touch me deep within. Maybe its the strong musical integrity or the demeanor of honesty that emanates through the music, or some kind of musical intangible. I'm not sure, but I know it connects with me. Could Nest be referred to as Nature/Doom?

Doom metal and Skepticism particularly (if you're not aware, we covered Skepticism's "The Gallant Crow") have influenced me a great deal, and I've deliberately injected certain doom elements to Nest's music, and shifted them away from metal although there's not much metal in Nest. I can easily see Nest being Nature/Doom. If I chained all the words that I feel describe Nest, it would end up something like Nature/Doom/Ambient/Acoustic/Atmospheric/...

Mr. Atolonen, thank you for your response. I've always heard a "doom influence" in Nest. Certainly not in a "metal" sense, but maybe in a type of folk/doom. There seems to be a longing, almost despairing feel to some of the songs(Claw and Fang)-"In death comes survival, In survival comes death." and lyrically as well. Although this song has always represented to me a bears survival skills and "tools" it uses. I've listened to "Trails of the Unwary" countless times. I also listen to Skepticism's -"Lead and Athere" and Mournful Congregation's-"The Monad of Creation"(Masterpiece) many times over, and while each band's approach may be different, there seems to me at least, a common thread in the music, if you will. For Nest, I like the description, atmospheric/nature/doom.

Hey Tolonen I'm planning on getting a midi-keyboard of some sort, so naturally I wonder; What kind of equipment do you use?

I'm planning on getting a midi-keyboard of some sort, so naturally I wonder; What kind of equipment do you use? I haven't used a midi keyboard on any of the stuff I've done so far. I've been doing the synth stuff in a very oldschool computer tracker way by playing notes with the computer keyboard. I recently bought a used Korg X5D synth and I'll be trying out how it functions as a midi keyboard on new stuff. I also tried a Roland PC-300 midi keyboard at a friend's house for a bit and it seemed ok. Also, I've been meaning to try how I can get a joystick/joypad working as a midi-controller (for triggers, filter sweeps, etc.) with these tools: - Rejoice- GlovePie

I found two of those songs ("Sadness And Relief" and "Night's Work") on the internet and I like them. They still have the Nest vibe I finally finished the work I needed to do for the stuff those two were part of. Get everything here: Unguarded Reliquary

Hello Mr. A. Tolonen, greetings from Argetina, my name is Robert and I wanted to ask you, how do you start a song? I mean with a kantele or keyboard line? or a melody or a concept/idea in your head? I m asking this because I find Nest to be one of the most "patient" bands when it comes to develop a song, like for example "Claw and Fang" or "Across The Waters", where you have many layers and details going on through those songs, and these details end up being as important as the main "riff" to describe the idea and the evolution of the song as someone stated it before.

Greetings from Mother Russia \m/ Seems like this topic is almost dead, but i'll ask anyway Is there any chance that all this amazing music will be re-released on vinyl someday in the future?
