The new album "Trail of the Unwary" is now released! The band will get its own copies soon, and you can get it from various distributions like Firebox and Grau too. Check the distro links here. And here's a taster song from the album: Kontio.

I hope you'll have a copie of the limited edition left, after you gave them to everyone who helped you with the album, for a poor fellow like me ;D

Hmm... I can't seem to find exactly where to purchase the new album from on the sites you listed. Do you think we could get a direct link to the ordering page?

Many of the distros haven't received their copies yet. I've only heard that people have been able to buy it from Grau so far. I've also heard that Corvus Records (the label that released Trail of the unwary) has sent copies to Firebox, so they should be getting it soon, I hope. I've also emailed Corvus and asked where you guys could get the special edition the easiest. I remember the label manager telling me some time ago that they want to concentrate on Bulgaria, and let other distros sell the album elsewhere. Nevertheless, I'll do my best to get the special edition within you guys' reach. I will also get copies of the special edition but my first priority is to give them to the people involved with the new album. But if I have any copies left over, I will naturally sell them.

I thought I share it with the world who doesn't come on the forum of doom-metal.com Good idea. I modified it a bit (added my quote tags, so that people notice they are my answers) -AT1. What was in your mind when composing "Moonbow" ? Any special emotions or visions? Moonbow was the first song I composed for the new album. The flute (a flute-like synth, actually) melody and it's accompanying parts were already in existence when I was finishing Woodsmoke, and I built the slow stuff on top of that. I feel that the slow stuff is the one of the most (if not the most) emotion evoking stuff on the new album. I wanted to try a thrice repeating song structure with this one, so every part comes three times, although slightly modified each time. I wanted to make a sort of mystical song, and one that would introduce the album, therefore it also has a distinctive intro part. Brisk wintry nights, owls, cats, and general mythical feelings are the theme in this song. The lyrics also have a certain interesting thought behind them. Whilst most people would want to be remembered after they're gone, the main part "This trail bears the signs..." can also be seen to reflect someone not wanting to be remembered after he/her passes away. 2. That "shrieking" sound in "Hunt", how did you create it, cause it sounds like a real animal? That is a marvelous shriek, isn't it. It was actually done by a friend of mine, John Haughm. I asked him to do inhuman shrieks that would sound like a real animal, but I was still completely blown away how fantastic they turned out. If you're interested, the growls are by me. 3. What music or which other artists do inspire you? Oh man. this is not going to be a short list, because I think everything I like inspires and influences me at least somewhat. Nevertheless, of musical stuff Amorphis, Skepticism, The 3rd and the Mortal, Dark Tranquillity, Raison d'ĂȘtre, Sephiroth, etc. are probaly the ones that have had the most impact on me. Of written word, the works of R.E. Howard, H.P. Lovecraft, Michael Moorcock, J.R.R. Tolkien, Brian Jacques, etc. are quite close to my heart. Generally I enjoy animal tales, hunting tales, folk tales, fantasy, horror, etc. Of visual art I also enjoy anything related to animals, folklore, fantasy and horror, with the likes of Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo, Quinton Hoover, Richard Kane-Ferguson, H.R. Giger, Akseli Gallen-Kallela, Theodore Kittelsen and many forgotten old folk artists being enjoyable. 4. Did you record nature sounds by standing in the middle of a forest and holding up microphones? (Would be very cool indeed) I wish I could do this. It would be great, but It'd be quite hard tracking down the likes of lynxes and bears just to record them. The nature sounds are shamelessly ripped from movies, games, nature sound CDs, etc. I'm actually wondering if anyone can easily notice where the sounds are from. Anyone who can guess where at least one sound is from exactly shall win a banana. 5.Concerning the way of composing: How is a song created, I mean do you start with a certain mood you want to convert into music or do you already "hear" the melodies in your head? I mostly just sit down and start playing the kantele just for my own enjoyment. I usually play it quite meditatively, so that I may repeat some melodies for tens of minutes without or with only small changes. Some melodies then end up being good enough that I'll go lay them down on the computer. Sometimes, especially with the more ambient parts I only work on them with a computer. This way it's a lot of fun to tweak all kinds of parameters, etc. that affects the sound. I rarely hear the melodies etc. in my head, but find them by playing or working on the sounds otherwise. 6. Do you read poems and if so, from which poet? Not really. I do like some of R.E. Howard's poems, but I'm generally not an avid fan of poetry. I often find a hard time understanding their meaning. 7. Do you consider nature to be a part of your live you couldn't miss? ( it is like that for me, as I am living in an area where the landscape is 90% covered with woods) Nature is a big part of my life indeed. I wouldn't want to live in an urban environment where finding anything green would take ages, or where natural areas are confined into small parks, etc. I live in a small town which although is still quite urban has plenty of nature only a 5 minute bike ride away. I think I wouldn't be happy at all without nature, and will strive to stay close to it.

Do you know if any American distributors will be getting their hands on the new album anytime soon? I'll import it if I have to, but I'd just as soon get it over here if I can.

Do you know if any American distributors will be getting their hands on the new album anytime soon? I'll import it if I have to, but I'd just as soon get it over here if I can. I don't have any official info yet, but at least Red Stream and Projekt have carried our previous full-length so they would be my first choices to look at. And if you're looking for easy importing, you can always get the album from me as soon as my copies arrive. My price will be 15 euros / 15 US dollars, and that includes the postage and packing too. I can also sign the album. I'm looking forward to receive a copy, my furry friend And of course, I'll send some nuts your way in good time; anything else would be improper... Always bribing me with nuts. And it works. Your copy will be on its way as soon as I receive mine. Great news! I'll try and order from Grau, considering they've also got the split with agalloch Grau should be a good choice. And they're probably one of the last places where you can find the split with Agalloch anymore. It's quite interesting to think that the split is limited, although the pressing was as many copies as there are of the other Nest albums. Well, it's no surprise that the fact that Agalloch was on it made it move fast EDIT:Firebox just received the album, so you can order it from them too now.

The new album's leaked on the net.
edit: I was wondering: The copies you receive from Corvus, do you get them for free, so the ones you sell are pure profit? If so, then it'll be a reason more to buy the album directly from you.

Well, at least it didn't leak before the release date. Yep, the copies I receive from Corvus are free. Bands usually get some amount of free copies from their label*, so buying directly from the band always supports the them the most. * Because it's more profitable for the label to give copies as payment instead of paying money to the band. This way the band will also participate in selling the album, because they have to if they want to get money from the album. Royalties are usually nonexistent, or very small within small band circles. Nevertheless, the deal I have with Corvus, without going into much detail, is fair and I have no complaints about it. Also, it doesn't cost me anything to make music (including recording, mixing, and mastering) because I can do everything myself, so money is certainly not an issue with Nest. And I'm glad that's the case. Nothing kills my inspiration faster than having to think about money.

This is such a beautiful album...I was bad and downloaded it, because I can't find anywhere to purchase it from.
I was disappointed I missed out on your previous two releases so I really want to get my hands on this one...is there any way you can ship an album to the US? I don't care how much it costs.
Keep up the great work!
edit: I just read your previous post, if you have any extra copies I would definitely be interested in purchasing one

ATTENTION! This is not a drill!I just received word from Firebox that Corvus Records will send a package of 10 special editions to them today (20 February '07). Hopefully they will arrive soon. Firebox is now the only distro I know that is confirmed to have the special edition, so that is the best place I know to get it. Just keep checking their catalog during the following week or two so that you don't miss out. I have a feeling it will go fast. This is such a beautiful album... I just read your previous post, if you have any extra copies I would definitely be interested in purchasing one I'm glad you like the new album. Yep you can order it from me (or from Firebox if you want the special edition - check what I wrote above). My price will be 15 euros / 15 US dollars (if you want me to send it as a registered package, please send 20 euros / US dollars) and this already includes postage and packaging. Just send the money well-hidden in an envelope to my address (which you can find on the Nest www site), and include your address with the money.
